Are The Winners Really Winners?

Japan, Land of the Rising Sun, is the world’s second largest economy and a science & technology super-power. It’s also home to a plethora of semi-violent, non-sensical game shows where the contestants are humiliated and blown-up for the amusement of guilty viewers the world over. Below is a video clip from one such game show.

The object of the game is simple. Dress supposedly willing participants in tight silver leotards and have huge sheets of polystyrene with different shapes cut into them to slowly trundle towards them. The participant then makes a frankly rubbish attempt to fit through the hole, obviously fails and gets pummeled into a water hazard. Quite why this hasn’t been exported by the BBC I don’t know.
