Murray & Jankovic Win Mixed Doubles
Just a quick post to say how delighted I am that Britain’s Jamie Murray and Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic (Two J’s) have this evening won the Wimbledon Mixed Doubles Championship. Each match in their journey through the draw has been thoroughly entertaining, mainly due to their sporting ability, but also due in part to their captivating on-court chemistry. Never before have I seen two tennis players laugh so much whilst playing. Jelena in particular has trouble with the giggles, often finding it impossible to stop even during a point. Despite this, her power and cross-court accuracy has been world class. As for Jamie Murray, his win today marks an end to a 20 year old dry spell for the British at Wimbledon. His sharp reaction time at the net and amazing lobs were a joy to watch. Well done to the both of them. British and Serbian tennis fans are, I’m sure, very proud of them.
Tour de France
At the weekend, I was in London (yet again) to experience the excitement and atmosphere of the Tour de France. The Tour’s visit to London was a once in a lifetime thing and I was not going to miss it. It was a fantastic day and you can read all about it here in the next few days. In the meantime, have a browse through my special set of photos on Flickr.
