Back From Switzerland
Hi. I’m back from Switzerland. What did I bring back with me? Swiss chocolates, cow bells, postcards… and a stinking cold! Everyone seems to think it was the altitude. They’re probably right. I got a sore throat almost as I arrived, but I managed to get rid of that with some tablets from the ‘Apotheke’. On Thursday though, the cold really blossomed and my stamina began to wane slightly. It didn’t really affect my trip. It was still absolutely awesome!
Switzerland is a beautiful country full of friendly and helpful people. All the Swiss stereotypes are true. They do stick to the rules, the people can come across as a little stern sometimes and they do enjoy their cheese and fondues. There are cows everywhere and they do all wear large bells around their necks. The scenery is stunning! There are waterfalls cascading over deep valley walls and there are snow-capped mountains. The trains are clean and reliable, all of them departing bang on time. They do keep bears in a pit in the capital city, Bern. Everything is spotlessly clean.
I loved every moment of my week in Switzerland. Over the next week (and perhaps even months), there’ll be a plethora of Swiss related stuff for you to enjoy on this blog. My first job has already begun. I came home with 450 photos, which I’ve managed to whittle down to 270ish. 32 of those, all of which were taken in my first few hours at my first destination, Basel, are now ready for viewing. Keep an eye on Flickr as the rest will filter through over the coming days (the best way to keep track is to add me as a contact). Also coming soon will be my hotel reviews, my travel guides and my videos. I’ve got 4GB of stuff to sort through so you’ll have to give me some time.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading, viewing and listening to everything I post. I know I’ll enjoy preparing it all.
