Argh! It’s Nearly February
I couldn’t make it a whole month without posting. That would be terribly unreliable of me. So, I’m rushing this out while I have just over 24 hours to spare.
First, just a quick update on what’s happening at the moment. Last Sunday, I started this year’s OU course, European Cultures and Identities. It’s my last full year before I graduate at the end of 2009 and so far, it’s very interesting. The first week see’s me asking questions about my own identity before the really hard graft starts next week. In order to graduate, I need 300 points. 60 of those points need to be at Level 3. This year’s course is a double-whammy 60 point level 3 course. It’s as difficult as it can get. But it has to be done, and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in.
This coming Saturday is going to be a busy one. Bedford play in the next round of the national trophy against Sedgley Park. At the same time, Italy play Ireland (and hopefully will give them a run for their money) to kick-off this year’s Six Nations championship. Immediately after that, England play Wales. I love the Six Nations! It should be an interesting tournament, especially since England’s triumph at the World Cup and Italy’s growing improvement. Then of course there’s France, who are always dangerous and will want revenge on England after they dumped them out of the World Cup last year. Can’t wait for the action to kick-off! Following the England match, I’m going to watch dog racing. I’m rather looking forward to it. I’m not sure I agree with it, so going will help me formulate an opinion, of which I’ll blog or twitter about afterwards. It should be an interesting evening. If you’re as unfamiliar with dog racing as I am, you needn’t worry. I’ll post some photos and/or video on here so you can get a feel for this weird “sport.”
As always, I’m trip planning. I’ve spotted a very nice circular trip around the Øresund, a body of water between Denmark and Sweden. Arrive in Copenhagen, take the train up the coast to Helsingør, take a ferry across the sound to Helsingborg in Sweden, take the train down the coast to Malmö and catch another train on the bridge across the sound back to Copenhagen. You can buy a ticket for the ridiculously low price of approximately £25.00 which covers 48 hours of unlimited train and boat travel in the area and also gives you food and hotel discounts. I’d be stupid to pass the offer up, especially on my low budget. I’ll be going some time this year.
In the short term, I’m planning on going back to Switzerland. To be more precise, the same hotel I went to last October. There’s plenty of stuff I didn’t see in the region and I just want to go away somewhere without having to overexert on planning as I normally do. I’ll be booking that up in the next few days.
And that’s it. Erm… bye.
