Here’s an ever-expanding unorganised list of cool things I’ve done. How many have you done too?

  • White Water Rafted down the world’s highest commercially rafted waterfall, a vertical drop of 7m.
  • Spent a day in the bizarre Special Administrative Region of Macau, China.
  • Climbed (and almost died at the top of) the 100 metre high Te Paki sand dunes in Northland, New Zealand.
  • Took the Caledonian Sleeper train from London Euston to Edinburgh.
  • Ate a bowl of Laksa at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
  • Filmed a short report for BBC News 24 criticising the way the BBC covers entertainment and arts news.
  • Went in a 500 horse-power Chevy 496 V8 Jet Boat down the Nga Awa Purua white-water rapids near Taupo, New Zealand.
  • Hiked 6km in thigh-deep snow between Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg in Switzerland, 2343 metres above sea level (the hardest thing I’ve ever done).
  • Walked across Sydney Harbour Bridge.
  • Had “You’ll Never Walk Alone” serenaded to me by an Icelandic street cleaner in Reykjavik.
  • Spent a night in a tent in Germany’s stunningly beautiful Black Forest.
  • Got growled at by an angry bull elephant at Singapore Night Safari.
  • Sledged down the Eiger Run, Switzerland, a 5km piste at the foot of Mount Eiger’s deadly north face.
  • Went to see the supremely awesome Flight of the Conchords live in concert at Wembley Arena.
  • Tried bear meat paté at Finnish Church of London.
  • Went to Skomer Island off the coast of Wales and came face to face with wild Atlantic Puffin.
  • Ate Atlantic Puffin (with blueberry sauce) in Reykjavík, Iceland. Delicious!
  • Watched the final stage of the Tour de France several times in Paris, France.
  • Travelled by train to Jungfraujoch, Switzerland (3454m), the highest railway station in Europe.
  • Ate Fish balls in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.
  • Went to see Stone Temple Pilots live in concert in Auckland, New Zealand.
  • Descended the Giant Stairway in Australia’s Blue Mountains and saw two Superb Lyre Bird’s in the wild.
  • Cycled the streets of Copenhagen, Paris, Reykjavik & London.
  • Experienced the 5.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the UK in 2008.
  • Spent a day on a moped exploring parts of New Zealand’s North Island.
  • Walked on top and inside of the Aletsch Glacier, Switzerland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Raced in a 270cc kart in Orihuela, Spain.
  • Ate the best hot dog in the world on Kongens Nytorv, Copenhagen.
  • Rode the Cable Car in New Zealand’s capital, Wellington.
  • Climbed to the top of Monte Vesuvio, a 1281m high active volcano best known for destroying the roman city of Pompeii in 79 AD.
  • Flew from Singapore to Sydney on the world’s largest passenger jet, the Airbus 380.
  • Spent about 4 hours in Sweden.
  • Went luging in Singapore and Rotorua, New Zealand.
  • Climbed every one of the 1652 steps to the second level of the Eiffel Tower.
  • Went on an impromptu helicopter ride in Taupo, New Zealand.
  • Went out into the dark Icelandic night and saw both the fiery eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano and the aurora borealis (Northern Lights).
  • Learnt how to say ‘Eyjafjallajökull’.
  • Spent a night in Switzerland’s tallest habitable building, the Ramada Plaza in Basel.
  • Rode the famous Star Ferry across Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour.
  • Rode the glass-bottomed lift up Auckland’s SkyTower, the tallest free-standing structure in the southern hemisphere.
  • Went caving and glowworm spotting 65 metres underground in New Zealand.
  • Enjoyed a delicious vegetarian meal and snow fungus cake at Lin Po Buddhist Monastery, Hong Kong.
