About
Hi there, and welcome to Here To Geneva, the travel blog with big ambitions.
Meet The Writer
I’m Matt, I’m 25 and I live in the United Kingdom. As seen on BBC One and BBC News 24 and as heard on BCFM and Hospital Radio, with creative input as heard on BBC World Service, I’m a student, traveller, blogger, music lover, photographer, administrator and media wannabe. If I’m not working or studying, I’m out with friends, on the net, exploring Europe, watching tennis and rugby (or any other sport), eating or sleeping. I have a self-imposed rule of saying yes to every invitation I receive, but I allow myself to say no if I don’t particularly like the person whose asking, or if I’m feeling lazy. Everything else about me isn’t worth knowing.
What’s It All About?
Here To Geneva is predominately a travel blog. Dig into the archives and you’ll find a wide selection of articles on all manor a travel related topics. First time flyers will find reading my article on my first time in a plane helpful in calming their nerves before they jet off. Those looking for hotels in Paris, London or Basel will find unbiased recommendations. Watch as I go for a hike in knee-deep snow, or find out what’s worth seeing in Paris. Your writer may stray from the travel genre on occasions so that he can have a rant, cover a sporting event, or review a bit of software, but on the whole, Here To Geneva is where you can share in my experiences as I travel around Europe.
Why Here To Geneva?
Around the time of 14th April 2007, the date upon which this blog was born, I was planning a trip to Switzerland. In my original itinerary, Geneva was the first stop. The name simply describes the first stage of this itinerary. Ironically, I later dropped Geneva from my plans entirely.
Site Details
Here To Geneva is powered by Wordpress, being squeezed through a self-made template, whilst residing on A Small Orange. The template was hand-crafted on an iMac using Adobe Fireworks for the images, Smultron for the XHTML and CSS, Cyberduck for uploading and MAMP for local testing.
Other Web Presences
Stop by at Flickr for a regularly updated photo stream and/or go to Vimeo for my videos. Both sites have a great community base and I highly recommend you get stuck into them both if you like photography or shooting videos. You can also find me on Facebook (search for me). Contrary to popular opinion, you will not find me on MySpace. While a page about me can be found on there, I didn’t create it.
